How Many Portable Toilets Do I Need for My Event?
When it comes to the number of portable toilets you hire for your event, don’t just wing it! Falling short on toilet access can get ugly and messy fast – especially when combined with drinking. You also don’t want your guests spending the majority of the event queueing up to use the bathroom. So, how many portable toilets do you need to know that you’re safe?
The right number of portable toilets comes down to the size and type of event. Generally, we recommend having 1 portable toilet for every 60 guests. However, each event should be evaluated individually based on a multitude of factors.
Here are some questions to ask yourself:
How long does the event go for?
The longer the event, the more toilets will be needed. Most people will need to use the bathroom approximately every 3-4 hours, so naturally, events that last longer will have higher bathroom use rates. So, if your event goes for 6+ hours, it’s best to up the number of portaloos. For overnight events, especially when they include camping, the number of toilets needed will be significantly higher.
Is there food and drinks served?
At drinking events, what goes in tends to come out rather quickly. That’s why at events involving food and drinks, it’s important to have a high enough number of toilets.
Is the event completely outdoors?
If your event is held completely outdoors, more toilets will be needed. Some events will have access to indoor toilets, but even then it’s wise to play it safe and back them up with some portable toilets as well.
Will more then %50 of attendees be female?
What will the demographic of the event be like? If it’s likely to be more than 50% female, you’ll need more portaloos due to higher frequency of use. Otherwise, you may end up with a lengthy queue and a lot of unhappy guests.
